Safety Tips

Your safety and convenience on the NTE TEXpress Lanes are our top priorities. Take a moment to familiarize yourself with this new type of roadway system before you drive it.

Know Your Entrances and Exits

Determine which NTE TEXpress Lanes entrances and exits you will need to use prior to your trip. Detailed diagrams and driving videos of each entrance and exit ramp, located under the Maps section, will teach you to drive like a pro.

TEXpress Lanes Speed Limit

Enjoy faster, more predictable travel on the NTE TEXpress Lanes. Although the speed limit is 75 mph, our congestion-management pricing aims to keep traffic moving at least 50 mph during peak travel times.

Enforcement and Protection

Local law enforcement personnel patrol the NTE TEXpress Lanes and enforce all traffic laws and HOV 2+ rules.

Roadside Assistance

We have dedicated service vehicles staffed by friendly, professional operations crew members to help you with any minor roadside emergencies. In case you are stranded, call 817-614-8706 and then just remain in your vehicle and wait for our roadside crew to arrive.

Pulling Over

A minimum of two TEXpress Lanes per direction and wide shoulders provide extra capacity to accommodate any incidents that occur inside the lanes. If you must stop for any reason while you're in the NTE TEXpress Lanes, pull safely onto the shoulders. Our roadside safety crew will be there shortly.

Separated Lanes

Concrete barriers completely separate the NTE TEXpress Lanes from the adjacent free general highway lanes, making driving on the lanes both safe and reliable.

Entrance and Exit Ramps

You'll see current toll pricing posted on highway signs well in advance of every NTE TEXpress Lanes entrance. Then dedicated ramps will guide you into the lanes and back onto the general highway lanes and frontage roads without having to cut through traffic to access them.
